Hi, hello, hey

That’s how you’re supposed to start a conversation, right? Well, this isn’t exactly a conversation and is more me writing down all the things my brain thinks about randomly at 3am when my children won’t sleep. It’s more me writing everything down that irritates me and getting it out there, so I feel it’s said and done without making my friends and families ears bleed hearing it all. So, thank you to whoever is reading this for doing them a favour. I’m not doing this to follow a trend, be shared around, or anything of the sort. What I’ve realised is that I’m actually not alone in this. There are so many families like mine that feel alone because there’s not many people that go through the things us and our families do.

I was inspired by a wonderful Mum who writes articles about her life, the nitty gritty and the pure honesty of it, so I started writing things down and it’s really helped my mental health so much and made me a better Mum. What I want to do is ease my own brain, educate or inform people that aren’t aware of worlds like mine and to be a place where an overwhelmed Mum can stumble across one day and feel as seen as I did when I realised other people are in this organised chaos too for the good, the bad and the countless times we laugh at the things our kids do.

On a more important note, I want to say what I need to regarding special needs parenting and families because I’ve thought so many times ‘they have absolutely no idea’, but we should. We learn in schools about how families can look different and families like mine should be a part of that. If we did even just that there would be such a better understanding for everyone about what their friends are going through, how to be more kind and patient and for people to properly understand that this is a potential life for anyone too. I won’t pretend its all sunshine and rainbows, its redbulls, coffee and eating brownies away from the kids so you don’t have to share but I also won’t sit here and pretend I don’t feel blessed to have the exact children I do. I’ll share the highs, lows the bits inbetween and rant about how children and adults with special needs deserve the exact same opportunities and rights as any other person.

Anyway,

My name is Elise, Ellie, El or whatever you want to call me. I’ve definitely been called worse things in my life so call me whatever you wish. I’m in my late 20’s, let’s not use a 3 in that number quite yet. I’m lucky to say I’m a Mum of 3 children. Spencer age 8, but we call him Buzzy. Cassie age 7 and Aleah age 2. Two of my children have special needs which can admittedly be overwhelming at times with a lot of second guessing myself but there’s also very rewarding wholesome moments that make all of those hard days worth it. They’re beautiful children who have definitely changed me for the better. But I guess that’s parenting in a nutshell really. My three children are my entire life, and they will be spoken about often in a positive light but also the reality of parenting and all the chaos that unfolds in a family like ours.

I’m chronically unwell too so that makes it all fun and games. But that’s a whole other post.

I don’t know if anyone will even ever stumble across this, I’ll probably be talked about in a few group chats because people love a gossip and a bitch about others, but I don’t mind that either, go forth and conquer.
